Centralized Checkout

Last Updated

What is centralized checkout?

Centralized checkout is a setup used in [vendor malls] where all purchases — regardless of which vendor's booth they came from — are processed at a single point of sale. Instead of paying each vendor separately, a customer brings everything to one register, and the system handles the rest.

It's also sometimes referred to as a unified point of sale.

How does centralized checkout work?

When a cashier rings up a transaction, the POS identifies which vendor each item belongs to and records the item sale to each vendor's account automatically. A customer can buy a lamp from booth 12 and a jacket from booth 34 in the same transaction, pay once, and leave. Behind the scenes, each vendor gets credit for their items sold, and the system calculates their commission accordingly.
